Statisticaly ˇ an improbable accidentˇ´caused that over 10,000 people had to be evacuated from the mostly affected area. Half of the people left the town Pripyat, which has remained a guarded place of shadows. Geyhalter´s Pripyot is a portrait of the people who arrive to work in the zone as well as of those whostayed or came back to their devasted house. They all need a special permittion, everyone who wants to enter must go through a check-up, only a body can leave, the personal things must stay. The yone is strictly guarded but the locals talk about the homeless nad criminal deliquents for whom this is a place of strange safety. Three women and two mn tell their stories. Thanks to their long answers you can have a look at the everyday life in the zone, the strange feelings of the people with danger of radioactivity in their backs. Zinejda works in a laboratory, investigates the changes of the country and animals. Nikulai is a guard in the third reactor of the station. Olga and Andrej came back to the evacuated village. They returned to die here and the only thing they are scared of are the foreigners. Marija has never left the zone. She eats the fish from the river.
